Have I mentioned that I love Kelly Clarkson lately?

Oh because I so do.

“I’ve sold more than 15 million records worldwide, and still nobody listens to what I have to say. Because I’m 25 and a woman,” she says.

“I am a good singer, so I can’t possibly be a good writer,” she continues. “Women can’t possibly be good at two things. I haven’t lost my temper about it. It only drives me more. If your thing is to bring me down, cool. I’ll just work harder.”

Indeed. Here’s a track (that, yes, she wrote) called “Maybe” from her new album My December:

I know she doesn’t want to be the Joan of Arc of the music industry, but damn if it couldn’t use one.

    I. Love. Her. So. Much.

  2. I respect her success but frankly I think her music sucks.

  3. I have never been crazy about her music, but I think it was last year or the year before she was performing in Miami at some awards show, MTV maybe. Green Day also performed and they were tame pussies and Kelly was all PUNK ROCK on that stage! I went DAMN, Kick some ass!

I couldn’t find that video, but this “hardcore” Kelly is funny. Turn down your speakers!

  4. Looking down my list of iPod playlists:

    – k.d. lang

    – Kate Bush

    – Keb Mo

    – Keith Jarrett

    – Yup, there she is. Just a few songs, but yup.

    – Kenny Burrell

    – Kenny Wayne Shepherd…

I like her, I admit it. So sue me.

Pink has also grown on me quite a bit — her new song “You and Your Hand Tonight” is GREAT.

  6. See? There are good things that come out of Burleson, Texas, and not just clumsy, ham-fisted prosecutions of women who sell what we modestly refer to as “marital aids” out of their homes…

I have two words for you Ms. Clarkson: Joni Mitchell.

I have two words for you Ms. Clarkson: Joni Mitchell.

She knows that. In fact, that’s exactly her point.
