OMG Shoez

Nike is teaming up with a female artist for the first time ever (!!!) to create a new limited edition line:

Nike has teamed up with New York graffiti artist and fashion designer CLAW Money for a limited release Blazer sneaker, to be released this summer at select retail accounts. The style will feature an eyelet pattern that is feminine, graphic, and subtly incorporates CLAW’s three taloned “mark”. Colorways will include Zest/White and Pink Fire, Flame Red/White and Ice Blue, and Black on Black with Anthracite. “I thought the Blazer would be a perfect canvas since it’s the brand’s first sneaker for playing basketball.”

…Nike and street art, have been teaming up since day one”, says Jesse Leyva, designer for Nike. “The worlds of sports and street are close, but what for me was very interesting about this project with CLAW was a female eye towards the iconic Blazer.”

HOTT.

Melissa says it like it is. I’ve given up trying to excuse these bastards for their stupidity, arrogance and the always underlying “We’re better than you” attitude. Fuck ’em. Run their politcians out of office in ’08 so we can get our shit back together before it’s too late. Failing that, maybe it’s time to hit the streets with torches and attack the Monster’s Castle in force. Larry Ray

  2. I don’t see myself buying Nikes any time soon (I have enough shoes, and I’m dubious about the corporation) but I am impressed that these are shoes that aren’t the usual “men’s version but smaller and pink”. Maybe they’ll set a trend.

  3. larry really doesn’t like Nike.

hey, melissa, have you seen these?

I wonder when they will make anything in a women’s size, non-special edition that isn’t pastel.

    Subtly?

  6. How are those eyelets “feminine”? Are they tiny hourglass shapes or something?

I hadn’t! How random. But cool.

Those are much more the primary colors of tagging than pastels.

Actually a woman by the name of Caroline Davidson came up with “swoosh” logo for Nike. At first she was paid like 10 bucks for it but then they gave her stock that has split many times over making her very wealthy.

Yeah, it’s nit picking but credit where credit is due.

  9. Ok, ICK – just ick.
