Quote of the Day

“I wish the Iranian people well and I only hope their experience with an inept, rigid idealogue president goes better than ours.”—Oliver Stone, who has been denied access to Iranian locations to shoot a movie based on the life of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

I have been saying for a while that Iran seems to be in a similar situation to the US – a largely moderate, Western-ized population being led by a band of religious and political extremists whose views don’t represent the majority of the population of the country. I can buy that our government has a problem with the Iranian government, but I don’t personally have a problem with any Iranians nor do I imagine most of them have any wish to see me wiped off the face of the earth, contrary to what those in power would have us believe.

I think people picture the country as a bunch of towel-head sand-dwellers in tents. I wish people would realize that downtown Tehran resembles nothing so much as downtown Atlanta. Pan-Arab Idol is one of the most popular TV shows, which looks and sounds almost exactly like the American and British versions.

But we’re proud of our ignorance, so bombs away! They’re all terrists anyway (which is a two-syllable word now, apparently. Much like “terrism” and “presdnt.”)

  4. That’s the kind of quote you want to frame and hang on a wall. Wonderful.
