Quote of the Day

“You know, our government and the people—the generosity of the Americans, American people can be—as manifested by just money, spending money. Up to now we have talked about how American citizens spend time and effort to help improve lives. We also spend money.” — President Bush, today in Arlington, Virginia during a “Conversation on the Americas.” Via Holden.

jeez…. our preznit doesn’t even make any sense. No wonder the country’s going to hell in a handbasket.

  5. The speech problem is apparently genetic – GHWB isn’t able to form coherent sentences, either.

I am at a loss for words, as is apparently gwb.

We should save this quote and use it every time someone on the right accuses the left of habitually throwing money at problems.

  8. My interpretation: Go shopping or the terraists will have won.
Yes, but only shop in states that afford gays & lesbians equal rights and protections.

Or the terraists have still won. It’s a lose-lose situation.

In light of our society’s extremely low savings rate and astronomical personal debt load, may I point out that this is perhaps not the most sustainable strategy for fighting terrorism (ignoring for the moment that much of our spending goes to places and people with questionable human rights records and fairly obvious connections with the ‘terraists’)?

  10. As Molly Ivins once said, “he was born with a silver foot in his mouth.” Can’t remember if she was talking about Poppy or King George the Lesser, but it fits either way.

First he takes our money, then he tells us to go shopping.

    Yep, Lil Bush strkes again.

  13. NameChanged

I don’t spend money. I can’t afford to. Fuck that bastard.

  14. Can you spell C-H-I-N-A?

We got a bit of an uncomfortably ironic giggle at these flags handed out at the 4th of July parade:

    chinese american

  15. Sorry to blog-whore, but I’ve just issued a blogger’s challenge that I would like you to consider.

    Thanks,

    Spending = generosity. How typical.

As Molly Ivins once said, “he was born with a silver foot in his mouth.”

Actually, it was Gov Ann Richards who made that astute observation about PapaGW at the 1988 DNC. littlew couldn’t afford to put his foot in his mouth because it would mean losing 5 toes for counting with.

“…born with a silver foot on his mouth…”

Molly Ivins, Gov. Richards, no matter, great Ladies both …!
