Live free, die hard, evade taxes

Ed and Elaine Brown: Not down with the whole Sixteenth Amendment thing. Big on Jimmy Cagney impersonations, however.

Ed Brown warned authorities they wouldn’t take him alive: “We either walk out of here free or we die.”

Meanwhile, their supporters certainly make a rational case for the Browns’ civil action.

Sitting in lawn chairs around the Browns’ long gravel driveway, the couple’s supporters rail against Freemasons, the Illuminati, the Federal Reserve, the Vatican and the mainstream media.

Somehow, the Trilateral Commission eludes blame.

Whatever happens next, the Browns are going to pay, and it will be their own fault. Freemasons notwithstanding.

  1. They’re asking a simple question: they would like to see the statute that establishes an income tax.

    There isn’t one.

The Sixteenth Amendment established the government *could* directly tax people with no regard for proportionality, and while there are some cases where the Supreme Court seems to say that this did not give the government any new tax authority, those statements are highly qualified. Lower courts have said that the 16th Amendment established an income tax, but that’s not true either.

No one, no Congressman (ask Ron Paul), no lawyer, no IRS agent, no Treasury Secretary, has ever been able to point to a USC statute and say “here’s the tax code”.

It doesn’t exist. The Browns have said that as soon as someone shows them the statute, they’ll pay up, and if I’m not mistaken, have put their tax money into an escrow account (at least that’s what I’ve heard), so they seem legitimate about this.

Want a creepier monetary story? Where’s the gold in Fort Knox?

That’s quite the assortment of causes there. LOL

  3. Here’s a link to America Freedom to Fascism on google video. It talks about the income tax issues. Basically you have to pay taxes because if you don’t, big men with guns bust into your house and take your shit.

Income tax is totally backwards. It’s not a law that’s enforced, it’s enforcement that sorta became law.

    LOL!

  5. And yet, they have power into their homes, and water, and use roads etc … good to know they’re proping up the stereotype of stupid white-trash.

  6. You can’t be too careful these days. Those One World Government types are everywhere, and they’re sneaky.

  7. actor212: The Browns are studiously ignoring Title 26 of the United States Code, also known as the Internal Revenue Code.

These folks are crackpots, hence the show.

rslux: I’ve been looking at that this afternoon. It makes for some lengthy reading!

  8. That is a long list, rslux.

One of these “tax protesters” shot our local county clerk, Karen Matthews, after she refused to file one of their bogus liens. His family stalked her, broke into her house and the shot her.

“October 14, California: Four members of the tax protest group Juris Christian Assembly –Roger Knight, George Reed, Terry Ingram and Janice Mallen–are sentenced to terms ranging from home confinement for six months up to a 70 month prison sentence for their role in assaulting Stanislaus County Clerk-Recorder Karen Mathews. Mathews had refused to file their bogus legal documents.”

What about Colonel Sanders (you know, before he went teats-up)?

  10. oddjob

I wonder how they feel about Queen Elizabeth’s drug running operation?

Aw, how quaint! I didn’t know anyone was still blaming the Masons for anything these days.

  12. i heard on NPR that Randy Weaver (Ruby Ridge) showed up. one of the reason that they have power and water is that they built a pretty self-contained stronghold.

how about this? the government can build a big ass fence, razor wire, gun towers, the whole she-bang and put up a sign that says:

Dumb Ass Nut Bag MilitiaCreep Tax Evader Federal Prison
    No Goddmaned Visitors Allowed

throw a few dudes in the tower and wait for the folks inside to figure out that it really isn’t all that much fun.

  13. sheesh! No Goddamned Visitors. . .

    badtypingday

  14. Damn, minstrel boy, I was enjoying the image of crowds of God maned (long, flowing white hair and beard) men standing around trying to figure a way to get over the razor wire!
