Cheney To Waxman: Eat Me.

Don’t take my word for it. Read for yourselves:

The Oversight Committee has learned that over the objections of the National Archives, Vice President Cheney exempted his office from the presidential order that establishes government-wide procedures for safeguarding classified national security information. The Vice President asserts that his office is not an “entity within the executive branch.”

That’s pretty much a double-dog dare if I ever heard one. It goes against everything that we and the children not left behind have learned about this government, not to mention Article 2 of that irrelevant Constitution. Take a trip with me below the fold and I think the issue will be come clearer.

Here’s the concept we’ve all come to know and love:

I’d say that’s a straightforward diagram showing all of the branches of government, and who presides over each of them. Heck, at first glance it really does look like the Vice President is in the Executive. If you look a little closer, though, you’ll see how Cheney distinguishes himself from the branch:

  1. ha! love the picture. I read this this morning and it pissed me off, but the photo makes it all somehow better…

  2. Get the trank gun; he’s out of control.

  3. Fer Sure

Wait, Cheney may have a point….I mean he and ole’ bush weren’t really elected, right?

  4. If the Evil One is not part of the Executive Branch, then from what fucking branch is his bloated ass hanging?

But wait, let’s go with his statement. Congress should subpoena him immediately to appear. He cannot hide behind “Executive Privilege” if he isn’t part of the Executive Branch. Grill him mercilessly about… oh, I don’t know, his energy policy meetings, his role in the buildup to the Iraq debacle, the Plame affair, the shredding of documents, etc., etc., etc…. If he refuses to appear, or appears and then hesitates or prevaricates in the slightest on any question, hold him in contempt and lock his ass up as an unlawful enemy combatant!

Must. go. stare. at. Nature. to regain calm….

Cheney is an evil megalomanical prick; he is NOT a fool. He calculated (correctly, it seems) that no one would have the fortitude to go to political war with him over this blatent lie.

    lol…nice…

TPM had something about this earlier.

More here, showing the status redefinition of the OVP in 2004.

Phydeaux Speaks – Considering how Cheney throws his weight around, I don’t think you’d have to a Democrat to get a certain amount of pleasure from the thought of him starring in a perp walk. Much of the West Wing would probably have to disguise their mixed feelings.

  8. Ditto nightshift’s comment. Cheney is many things, most of them bad, but he is not stupid.

  9. I love the graphic.

Constitutional crisis? I don’t see any Constitutional crisis. That has been settled for years now–in CheneyCo’s favor.
