Spenser: For Hire

I think sometimes people forget that every successful TV show from 1979 to 2004 had one thing in common – Robert Urich.
Seriously. Remember when he was the star of “Oprah” in the mid-90s?
I used to watch this show just to see Avery Brooks’ performances.
Ditto. Avery Brooks will always be Hawk to me. I read the books and hear his deep, badass voice…
Avery Brooks had the greatest line readings in “Spenser,” one of my faves being when Spenser informed him they would be going up to Montreal to track someone, he roared out “O, CANNAH-DAH!” in boistrous amusement. That, and the way he said “Foxx-burrow,” when told they’d take a trip to Patriots territory.
