Rudy Giuliani needs a new coke dealer

For many, few things are worse than when your dealer gets busted. It gets even worse when the guy was in charge of your Presidential campaign in South Carolina.

Giuliani South Carolina chairman indicted on cocaine charges

COLUMBIA, South Carolina (AP) — South Carolina Treasurer Thomas Ravenel, a former real estate developer who became a rising political star after his election last year, was indicted Tuesday on federal cocaine charges.

Ravenel and another man were accused of distributing less than 500 grams of the drug starting in late 2005.

Ravenel is also the state chairman for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign.

We wish Mr. Giuliani luck in finding a new source. We’re sure Bernie Kerik can help in this pursuit.

I urge us all to consider a pardon for Mr. Ravenel, surely he deserves it a least as much as Scooter Libby, if not more so.

There’s no underlying crime here. The prosecutor was out of control. Yes, Mr. Ravenal traded a little coke for some cash, but that doesn’t make him a *coke dealer*. I mean, who hasn’t? I’m sure PResident Bush would sympathize.

Plus, Rich Cohen says, jail is really scary for white-collar people.

  3. That is my favorite headline of the week, if not the month, Wolfrum!

Brrrrrrr….Rudy sends chills down my spine, and not in a good way.

But wouldn’t Rudy quickly get tired of New Coke and go back to Coke Classic?

  5. thanks to the “war on drugs” as managed by the bush administration rudy shouldn’t have any problem at all setting up a new dealer’s account. he will find, as have the folks who study this stuff (like the FBI crime stats people) that coke on the street is much purer, and significantly cheaper than it was six years ago.
