Attorneygate: All the Way to the White House

Anyone surprised by this?

Justice Department documents released tonight include new emails linking Karl Rove’s top aides — former White House political director Sara Taylor, who resigned last month, and her deputy Scott Jennings — to the U.S. attorney scandal. Congressional subpoenas have been authorized, but not approved, for both Taylor and Jennings.

…Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) said in a statement tonight: “These documents, which should have been released by the Department long ago, provide further evidence that White House officials like former Political Director Sara Taylor were deeply involved in the mass firings of well-performing prosecutors. The Department of Justice should not be reduced to a political arm of the White House. We need an end to the White House’s stonewalling of our investigations so we can learn the truth.”

The Democrats need to pass legislation instituting a new criminal law called “General Badness for the Country,” and, as soon as it’s law, frogmarch Rove out of the White House and throw his ass in the clink for the rest of his stinking days.

  1. Surprised? Not even a little bit. I’d like to see Congress flex its muscles and order people jailed for contempt when they stonewall requests, but monkeys will fly out of my ass first.

The only thing that would surprise me if there were a scandal that Karl Rove was NOT involved with.

Rove in jail. What a lovely dream.

I wish it was reality. Rove is a criminal with a history of doing criminal things. The Attorneygate is just one of them.
