The Vice President is a Fucking Thug

It’s really just that simple—and it’s time to impeach him. Now.

Vice President Cheney told Justice Department officials that he disagreed with their objections to a secret surveillance program during a high-level White House meeting in March 2004, a former senior Justice official told senators yesterday.

The meeting came one day before White House officials tried to get approval for the same program from then-Attorney General John D. Ashcroft, who lay recovering from surgery in a hospital, according to former deputy attorney general James B. Comey.

Something about which Comey has already testified, but in response to written questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday, Comey indicated “that Cheney and his aides were more closely involved than previously known in a fierce internal battle over the legality of the warrantless surveillance program.” In addition to calling the meeting at the White House to discuss Justice Department objections to the surveillance program, “Cheney’s office later blocked the promotion of a senior Justice Department lawyer, Patrick Philbin, because of his role in raising concerns about the surveillance.”

So a vindictive thug, then, too.

“Mr. Comey has confirmed what we suspected for a while — that White House hands guided Justice Department business,” said Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.). “The vice president’s fingerprints are all over the effort to strong-arm Justice on the NSA program, and the obvious next question is: Exactly what role did the president play?”

You know what a good way to find out would be? Impeach bloody Cheney. Issue subpoenas for everything on the bloody planet. Scrub the goddamned dirt out of the Oval Office!

The Congressional Democrats need to have some serious closed-door talks with the Congressional Republicans and threaten them within an inch of their worthless lives that if they don’t go along with impeaching that criminal Cheney, the Dems will use every bleeding ounce of power their majority status gives them to uncover every little shred of dirt on every last Republican member of Congress. In other words, “It’s you or Cheney, doodz.” And they ought to consider going after their veep rather than their president a fucking gift and a right nice compromise.

I’m not kidding. I’m sick of this horseshit. If the Republicans can’t be counted on to act in the best interests of this country, and can only be moved out of self-interest, then hit them where they live. They’ve had the chance to do the right thing on their own; they have consistently turned a blind eye to the wanton lawbreaking of the administration; time to strong-arm them. Those crooks should be left with one choice—get their unethical, lobbied-up asses frog-marched out of Congress one by one, or vote to impeach Cheney.

End of story. I’m sick of it!

    Word!!!!!!!

Learning that the preznit is trying to set the stage for permanent occupation of Iraq is frightening but then, so is Darth Cheney.

  2. Well, there goes my cross-post for the morning 🙂 🙂

As for what you say: most assuredly so.

  3. While the Dems should do everything they can to hobble this evil administration, the problem with your closed door idea is that far too many Dems are also compromised by their own little secrets and deals. I’m sure of it. I can see leaks coming from all directions getting both sides in trouble.

Of course, if this resulted in impeachments and resignations all the way up the chain to the White House, I’d be all for it anyway.

  4. You beat me to it, KevinWolf. I’d imagine there’s plenty of dirt on the Democratic side as well. The threat, if there were one to be made, would be of running strong candidates against them and hammering them again in November 2008, but gerrymandering is a bitch in the House, and there aren’t enough realistic targets in the Senate.

I’m sure they are. But they’re also the majority and the GOP has no subpoena power, so fuck ’em!

And, btw, if dirty Dems get shaken out of the tree in the process, so much the better for us.

  7. I’m all for getting rid of dirty pols–witness the left blogosphere’s call for “Dollar” Bill Jefferson to resign in the wake of his indictment–I’m just saying that it’s hard to expect dirty Dems to make those kinds of threats against their Republican colleagues, when they know that the situation could change in the next election cycle.

I’m no fan of Joe Biden, but he nailed it in the last debate when he said that the key to fair elections is public financing. That would get rid of a lot of the special interest money.

  8. While I like your idea, I’m not sure even open threats could overcome the “Partei über allen” mentality.

That being said, I recently had to cut down some pine trees that were threatening to fall on my neighbor’s house, so I have the makings for a nice batch of boiling tar if someone else can provide the feathers!

  10. Impeach Alberto Gonzales, then Dick Cheney, then George Bush, in that order.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

Melissa, when I heard this news on NPR this morning, I had the same reaction. Impeach him, already. What the hell.

The only things we don’t know now is who was watched. I’m sure there were many innocents, but would it surprise anyone (except the MSM) if they had done the “Full Nixon” and gone after reporters and political opponents? The more we know about the Bushies, the worse they always look. Funny, that.

What makes Cheney so dangerous is he’s a vicious bureaucratic fighter who will use every dirty trick to get his way and his judgment is consistently disastrous and Bush grants him so much power. I wonder if Cheney is a sociopath, because he really doesn’t seem to give a damn. I think he’s probably the most evil person ever to be in such a position of power in U.S. history. He’s definitely in contention.

I wonder if they could still use the od courthouse and gallows at Nuremburg.
