By way of comparison

The petition asking that the Senate and House Armed Services Committees compel the Army to investigate anew the death of Pfc. LaVena Johnson stands at just over thirty-five hundred names at the moment. It has taken some three months to reach this point.

The petition to change the logo for the London 2012 Olympics passed 10,000 signatures in less than a day.

    Sigh.
Well, look at the difference in coverage of the two issues.
And which one is easier, i.e., doesn’t tear your heart out?

    So. Frustrating.

Phil, you should definitely do another post about the LaVena petition soon. And make sure you remind people they can even sign it anonymously if they’re afraid to put their names to something like that these days.

  3. I can’t help but think that if Pfc. Johnson had been a pretty young white woman, there’d have been a more intensive investigation. Maybe not, but if she’d disappeared in the States, it wouldn’t have made national news the way Natalee Holloway’s did.

She was a very pretty girl. I’m so sorry for her family’s loss.

    I signed the petition.

No, she just would have been turned into a tragic hero with a different set of lies.
