Elections Have Consequences: Gonzo in the Shit Edition

Up to his neck:

The House Judiciary Committee subpoenaed new documents Tuesday from Attorney General Alberto Gonzales as part of its investigation into the firings of federal prosecutors, with the panel chairman saying he had run out of patience.

“We have been patient in allowing the department to work through its concerns regarding the sensitive nature of some of these materials,” Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., wrote Gonzales in a letter accompanying the subpoena. “Unfortunately, the department has not indicated any meaningful willingness to find a way to meet our legitimate needs.”

“At this point further delay in receiving these materials will not serve any constructive purpose,” Conyers said. He characterized the subpoena as a last resort after weeks of negotiations with Justice over documents and e-mails the committee wants.

The Justice Department did not have an immediate comment.

Just, perhaps, gulp.

Now let’s take a trip in the wayback machine to June, 2005

Here is a picture of that same Representative John Conyers delivering his petition regarding the Downing Street Memos, and containing 560,000 signatures of American citizens + 102 members of congress, to the White House…where he was refused entry:

The Fixer at Alternate Brain noted at the time:

They wouldn’t let him in. Think about this. They refused to allow a Member of Congress into the White House to deliver a letter.

A member of Congress who was then simply the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee – and is now the Chair, while the criminal machinations of the Bush administration slowly unfold before the eyes of a nation. A member of Congress who was once turned away when he fought for justice – and will not be turned away now.

Elections have consequences, bitchez.

  • The Senate is asking for more docs., too, although they aren’t now issuing a subpoena for them. They’re asking for all the DOJ performance rankings of all the US Attorneys, as well as other deliberation materials used by DOJ and the White House to decide who to replace and who to keep.

  • I’ll believe the Dems will issue subpoenas when they issue them. They have a long, long track record of ‘going wobbly,’ let’s just say.

I barely dare to hope We The People will be treated to a rare off-gassing of TRUTH from these intellectually flatulent fucks.

Of course, Conyers et.al. will first have to swim upstream through the pre-disclosure diarrhea of “Just political grand-standing” and “unpatriotic traitors in a time of war.”

This Recovering Catholic may just relapse into prayer for the Good Guys (and Gals.)

…And that photo… Is Suit-Man preparing to punch Conyers out, or showing him how he’ll snap his little Democrat neck like a twig, or WHAT?
